How we built a real-time energy monitoring platform with AI-driven consumption forecasting and automated alerts for Enwatt's commercial building clients.

The Challenge
Enwatt provides energy management services for commercial buildings across Germany. Their clients relied on monthly utility bills and manual meter readings to understand energy consumption - far too slow to identify waste or optimize usage. They needed a real-time monitoring platform that could ingest IoT sensor data, visualize consumption patterns, and proactively alert building managers to anomalies.
Our Solution
We developed a full-stack energy monitoring dashboard that ingests real-time data from IoT sensors via MQTT and REST APIs. The frontend displays interactive consumption charts, building floor plans with heatmaps, and comparison benchmarks. On the backend, we built a Python-based AI pipeline that analyzes historical patterns to forecast consumption 7 days ahead, detect anomalies like HVAC malfunctions or lighting left on overnight, and trigger automated alerts via email and SMS. The admin panel lets Enwatt onboard new buildings and configure thresholds without developer involvement.
Results
