The Challenge
Jurata, a Frankfurt-based legal tech startup, saw that corporate legal teams were spending thousands of hours manually reviewing contracts. Junior lawyers would spend days reading through standard agreements to find non-standard clauses, liability caps, and termination conditions. The process was slow, expensive, and error-prone - critical clauses were sometimes missed entirely.
Our Solution
We built an AI-powered contract review platform using Next.js for the frontend and a Python-based NLP pipeline on the backend. Users upload contracts in PDF or DOCX format, and the system automatically extracts and categorizes key clauses - including liability limitations, indemnification terms, payment schedules, and termination rights. A risk scoring engine flags unusual or potentially problematic language against a configurable baseline. The platform generates structured summary reports that legal teams can review in minutes instead of hours. We also built a clause library where teams can save and compare language across their contract portfolio.
